The initiative, led by the Centre, aims to equip schools, educational institutions, and specialised centres with a unified reference to better support students with learning difficulties.
The ceremony, organised by the Sharjah Centre for Learning Difficulties, was attended by numerous specialists and professionals working in the fields of education and academic support, highlighting the growing recognition of inclusive educational practices.
In remarks to “Sharjah 24,” Dr Al Suwaidi emphasised that the guide is the first of its kind in the UAE, serving as a comprehensive resource outlining all available services for students with learning challenges. It is designed to support educators in diagnosing, assessing, and addressing diverse student needs within structured learning environments.
The guide is divided into three main chapters:
1. Learning difficulties – covering definitions, signs, and support mechanisms.
2. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) – outlining diagnosis, management strategies, and educational interventions.
3. Transitional services – offering guidance on supporting students through transitions between different educational stages.
It also details diagnostic and assessment protocols, criteria for educational and administrative staff, and the requirements for an appropriate learning environment tailored to students with learning difficulties.
Dr Al Suwaidi confirmed that the guide is now available for purchase at the Sharjah Centre for Learning Difficulties, making it accessible to teachers, specialists, and educational centres. She highlighted its value in enhancing the quality of services provided and in empowering students academically and socially through informed, inclusive practices.
