Sharjah 24 – AFP: Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic was knocked out of the Madrid Open in the second round on Saturday, falling to Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.

Third straight loss for the world no. 5

Ranked fifth in the world, Djokovic’s early departure marks his third consecutive loss in the Spanish tournament. Despite receiving a first-round bye as one of the top 16 seeds, he was unable to advance further.

Recent struggles continue

The Madrid exit follows other recent setbacks for Djokovic, including a loss in the Miami Open final on March 17 and another early exit in Monte Carlo on April 7, where he was defeated in his first match (second round).
