Sharjah 24: A government delegation from the Republic of Guinea-Bissau paid an official visit to Souq Al Jubail in Sharjah to explore the market’s operational and administrative best practices. The visit focused on understanding departmental workflows—especially in the fish section—and fostering knowledge exchange between the two sides.

Delegation received by Sharjah City Markets director

The delegation was welcomed by Engineer Abdullah Al Shamsi, Director of Sharjah City Markets. Attendees included Mario Musante da Silva Loureiro, Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy; Mutaro Jallow, Prime Minister and Special Advisor to the Prime Minister; Carlos Nelson Sano, Deputy Minister and Director General of Maritime Control (FISCAP); and Mamadou Wour, General Manager of UTAL.

Comprehensive market tour

Al Shamsi led the delegation on a full tour of the market facilities, offering detailed insights into operational systems, customer services, and the health and safety procedures used to maintain high-quality standards. Special attention was given to the Fish and Grills section, where visitors can select fresh seafood and have it grilled on-site in a hygienic and welcoming environment—offering a complete and unique customer experience.

Highlighting international cooperation

Engineer Al Shamsi stressed the value of hosting international delegations to promote global cooperation and knowledge sharing. He underscored the role of Jubail Markets as a premier destination in Sharjah that exemplifies best practices in market management. He noted that such visits open new opportunities for collaboration and reflect Sharjah’s growing influence in developing regional and international market systems.

This visit is part of Guinea-Bissau’s broader efforts to study successful models in the UAE and adapt them to enhance infrastructure and service development in their local markets.
