Sharjah24: Sharjah Police, in collaboration with the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority and other relevant bodies, continues to assess and follow up on the aftermath of a fire that broke out on the morning of Sunday, 13 April. The incident occurred in a 52-storey residential tower within the emirate, home to over 1,500 residents from diverse nationalities.
The operations room of Sharjah Police received an emergency report at 11:31 AM, indicating a fire had started in an apartment on one of the upper floors. Emergency police, security, and support units were immediately dispatched to the location. The surrounding area was secured, emergency pathways were cleared for Civil Defence and National Ambulance vehicles, and traffic was managed around the site to ensure efficient access.
Casualties and evacuation efforts
Thanks to the rapid response of emergency teams, hundreds of residents were safely evacuated from the building. Sadly, the fire led to five fatalities and 19 injuries, with all injured individuals transferred promptly to receive necessary medical care.

Brigadier General Dr Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, Director General of Operations and Security Support at Sharjah Police, expressed his profound sorrow over the lives lost. He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a swift recovery to the injured. He stressed that all specialised teams worked tirelessly from the first moments of the incident, focusing on safe evacuation procedures and protecting residents in the affected building and neighbouring towers, maintaining the highest level of preparedness.
Joint field coordination and investigation underway
Brigadier Al Naour commended the strong field coordination between police units, Civil Defence, and the National Ambulance teams, noting the valuable logistical support provided by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority. These collaborative efforts significantly accelerated the emergency response and helped minimise injuries.
He added that the forensic laboratory team at Sharjah Police has initiated the necessary investigative procedures to determine the cause of the blaze and uncover all related circumstances. Specialised units are continuing their on-site inspections in preparation for completing the legally mandated procedures.
