Sharjah 24: The University of Sharjah (UOS) and the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a strategic partnership that aims to develop new and innovative educational and research programs, broaden the exchange of scientific expertise, and nurture a cadre of national talent primed for leadership and impactful innovation, in line with the UAE’s vision to build a sustainable knowledge-driven society.

Moreover, the partnership aims to bolster the knowledge economy through research projects addressing future challenges. It will bolster the UAE's position as a regional and global hub for academic excellence and innovation, while enhancing cooperation between academic institutions and government entities, facilitating the development of an advanced educational environment that produces applied research to support decision-making and mold leaders capable of facing future challenges.

The agreement was signed by Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, with top academic and research leaders from both institutions in attendance.

Chancellor Al Naimiy hailed the partnership as a significant leap forward for UOS, opening up new prospects for students and researchers to tap into a wider pool of diverse academic expertise. He emphasized the University's dedication to fostering an educational environment that promotes innovation and scientific excellence, aligning with the UAE’s strategic shift towards a knowledge-based economy.

For his part, Dr. Al Marri echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of collaborating with UOS, given its role as a leading educational institution and a top destination for students. “This agreement embodies MBRSG's commitment to advancing higher education and scientific research,” he said. “Our goal is to train and empower skilled and capable professionals, equipped with the knowledge they need to join the job market, tackle diverse challenges, and contribute effectively to enhancing government performance, realizing the UAE's aspirations, and cementing the country’s position as a global center for knowledge and innovation.”

“This integration of academic efforts helps build a sophisticated knowledge environment that provides practical and innovative solutions to support vital sectors, while also endorsing national talents, honing their skills, and preparing them to become future leaders, capable of realizing the ambitious visions of the UAE’s leaders and government, aimed at achieving prominence, excellence, and sustainability,” Al Marri added.

The memorandum encompasses a wide range of collaborative initiatives, including joint graduate programs, co-supervision of scientific research, and exchange of academic and student expertise. It also paves the way for developing innovative academic programs and supporting pioneering research projects.

Furthermore, the agreement envisions the organization of joint scientific conferences and seminars, and the expansion of cooperation in e-learning, training, and consultancy services, which would enhance the local and international standing of both institutions in the academic sector.
