The events will offer an integrated scientific experience aimed at raising awareness about the importance of space in human life and spreading scientific and astronomical culture among all segments of society, with a focus on youth and students.
Comprehensive programme
The week's activities include a variety of scientific and astronomical activities, including four new shows at the Sharjah Planetarium, in addition to two interactive stations such as "Imagine Other Worlds" and "Time Capsule."
The events also include three scientific workshops on exploring astrobiology, exploring the possibility of extraterrestrial life, and using artificial intelligence to classify astronomical images. They also include seven specialised lectures covering topics such as the habitability and stability of exoplanets, interstellar travel, and high-energy cosmic radiation, as well as practical exercises simulating the lives of astronauts.
Annual celebration
It is worth noting that World Space Week is an annual event celebrated globally since its first launch in 1999. It is organised by the International Space Federation (ISF) in cooperation with the United Nations. This week marks the anniversary of the launch of the world's first satellite (Sputnik 1) on October 4, 1957, and the signing of the Outer Space Treaty on October 10, 1967, linking the event to the history of humanity's most significant achievements in space exploration.
