Sharjah 24: The University of Sharjah’s Department of Student Activities at the Deanship of Student Affairs (Women) organized the sixth edition of its annual health awareness fair, “Stay Healthy 6,” dedicated to promoting public health and breast cancer awareness. The two-day event was held in the presence of Dr. Salama Al-Rahoomi, Dean of Student Affairs (Women), along with several members of the University’s faculty and administrative staff and a large turnout of students.

The fair brought together leading health organizations, medical centers, and clinics including the University Hospital Sharjah, the Disability Resource Center, and the UoS medical clinics. The participating institutions and entities offered free medical check-ups and health consultations for university students. A mobile dental clinic also provided on-site examinations and raised awareness about oral hygiene. The event further featured strong participation from various university colleges such as the College of Dental Medicine and the College of Health Sciences, whose representatives delivered workshops and hosted interactive awareness competitions.

The initiative aimed to strengthen collaboration between UoS and both public and private healthcare institutions across the local community. It sought to spread health education, introduce participants to the services offered by participating institutions, and highlight the importance of preventing chronic diseases through early awareness and healthy living.

Beyond medical outreach, the fair featured an engaging lineup of cultural and educational activities. These included a workshop on learning sign language, an open art session hosted by the University’s art studio, and a “Save a Life” first aid workshop led by Dr. Heba Khalil from the College of Health Sciences. Students also enjoyed yoga sessions run in collaboration with the Women’s Sports Complex, designed to promote both mental and physical well-being. Adding a creative touch, a group of female students performed a theatre piece advocating the value of adopting a healthy lifestyle through an entertaining, educational lens.

The lively atmosphere extended across interactive booths organized by various student teams, including the Eshers Group, and a dynamic feedback platform where participants shared their views. These elements transformed the fair into a vibrant, engaging celebration of health awareness that inspired students to make well-being a sustained part of their daily lives.
