UOS Chancellor: 31 countries to take part in Arab IP Conference

Sharjah 24: Professor Dr Issam Al-Din Ibrahim Ajami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (UOS), announced that the Fourth Arab Conference on Intellectual Property, hosted by the UOS from 23 to 25 September, will bring together leading academics, innovators and legal experts from 31 countries.

The event will serve as a platform for dialogue to explore innovative solutions that balance protecting creators’ rights with fostering an environment that encourages creativity and innovation.

Speaking to "Sharjah 24," Ajami explained that the challenges posed by modern technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, include the risk of attributing innovations and creations to the wrong sources, which is a genuine concern for innovators. He stressed that the conference seeks to turn such risks into opportunities by developing modern legal and technical frameworks that safeguard intellectual property rights and provide a safe environment for research, industry and innovation to thrive.

He added that the conference’s strength lies in bringing together representatives from diverse sectors—academics, industry leaders, innovators and legal professionals—around one table to exchange perspectives and build shared solutions. This convergence, he noted, enhances trust and builds bridges of cooperation to ensure a safer future for Arab and global creativity.
