Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Police's (SP) General Headquarters, represented by the administration of the Penal and Correctional Institution, organised a family gathering for its female inmates, allowing them to spend Ramadan moments with their families during a communal iftar in an environment that embodies the highest values of human and social cohesion.

Colonel Abdullah Rashid Alai Naqbi, director of the Penal and Correctional Institution Administration at Sharjah Police; Major Khalfan Salem Al Alili, director of the Reform and Rehabilitation Department; Imran Al Mazmi, from the Islamic Forum; a number of specialised officers from the institution; and the inmates' families were all in attendance.

Inspirational success tales and creative displays

The meeting included a variety of activities, the most notable of which was the success story of a former convict who was freed and served as an inspiring model by recounting her journey of transformation and rehabilitation. The celebration also included honouring numerous detainees who had memorised the Holy Qur'an, as well as a display of handcrafted and artistic objects that exhibited the inmates' ingenuity.

Strengthening family bonds

Al Naqbi said that the family meeting is in line with the Sharjah Police's mission to build family relations and promote a rehabilitative strategy that promotes inmates' psychological and social stability. He explained that the gathering would become a weekly tradition during the holy month of Ramadan, with meetings held on a weekly basis to allow inmates to reunite with their families in an environment that embodies the values of tolerance and family communication while instilling a sense of belonging.
Colonel Al Naqbi underlined that such efforts are part of Sharjah Police's objective to improve the quality of life in penal and correctional institutions by creating a conducive atmosphere for rehabilitation and reintegration. This strategy helps offenders reintegrate into society while also reinforcing social cohesion ideals.
