Sharjah Police continues efforts to enhance road, traffic safety

Intensified inspection and awareness operations
As part of ongoing initiatives, Sharjah Police has increased inspections and awareness drives targeting truck and heavy vehicle drivers. The goal is to ensure compliance with all technical and legal standards, and to promote practices that support road safety and efficiency.

Field campaigns and smart monitoring
Colonel Omar Bu Ghanem, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department, confirmed that specialised teams have conducted on-ground inspection campaigns in collaboration with relevant entities. These campaigns are concentrated in key areas such as main roads, industrial zones, and high-traffic regions. Advanced surveillance tools, including smart cameras, are used to monitor designated truck lanes and detect violations. Additionally, awareness workshops have been held at factories and company locations in multiple languages to reach a broad segment of drivers, along with distributing safety materials highlighting best practices and unsafe behaviours.

Ensuring a safe and sustainable traffic environment
Colonel Bu Ghanem highlighted the importance of the heavy transport sector to Sharjah’s economy, emphasizing the commitment to integrating safety and efficiency. These activities fall under the vision of providing a safe and sustainable traffic system through continuous oversight, strategic partnerships, and community engagement. Drivers and business owners are urged to uphold safety standards, conduct regular vehicle inspections, train staff, and follow designated truck routes and timings.
