Sharjah24: As part of its sustainable partnership with The Big Heart Foundation and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Arada has launched the fourth edition of the “One House for One Home” initiative, which will aim to build homes to accommodate 4,000 refugees in the Republic of Chad this year.

For four consecutive years, the initiative has included a commitment by Arada and its campaign partners to provide housing for a refugee family for every home sold by the developer in any of its projects during the holy month of Ramadan.

This year’s initiative will be implemented in Chad, which hosts more than one million refugees, according to figures from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. According to the program, Arada and its partners will commit to building homes for refugees in the eastern part of the country, where more than 750,000 people, mostly women and children, have been displaced by violence in Sudan, particularly in the Darfur region, since the conflict began in April 2023.

Each house built will be dedicated to a Sudanese family of four, and will also provide water and sanitation facilities. Arada and its partners will also develop an emergency water system, benefiting 30,000 people in local refugee camps.

“The One for One Home initiative has grown since its launch in 2022, and our collaboration with our partners this year in Chad will have a greater impact than ever before,” said Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO at Arada. “With a commitment to building more than 2,000 homes over the past four years, we aim to continue to grow the initiative globally by introducing new countries and innovative ways to help communities in need.”

“We are committed to providing hope and shelter to those in need, amidst unprecedented displacement across the globe. The One for One Home initiative embodies the positive impact of collaboration and humanitarian efforts, and we are proud to renew our partnership with Arada and UNHCR under the umbrella of this noble cause,” said Alia Al Msibi, Director of The Big Heart Foundation. “As we embark on the fourth edition of this campaign in Chad, we are laying the foundation for dignity and safety, and providing a new beginning for families who have endured unimaginable hardships, and we are very proud to do so.”

“This partnership once again demonstrates the power of cooperation to create long-term impact,” said Khaled Khalifa, UNHCR’s Advisor to the High Commissioner and Representative to the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries. “By expanding the ‘House for House’ initiative to Chad, we are continuing our efforts here to empower vulnerable communities by providing basic shelter and access to water and sanitation. Together, we are providing the resources needed for displaced people to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.”

The One House for One House initiative was first launched in 2022 and has so far resulted in a commitment to build 2,105 homes for refugees in Kenya , Syria and Chad, of which 757 have already been built. The development of clean water infrastructure in Kakuma Refugee Camp has also been completed, currently benefiting over 43,000 people in northern Kenya.

Since its inception, Arada has partnered with The Big Heart Foundation as a key partner in its CSR strategy, supporting the foundation’s core mission of empowering and helping children and families in need around the world. Arada has also strengthened its partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for the first two editions of the One for One Home initiative in 2022 and 2023.

It is worth noting that the “One House for Every Home” initiative is in line with Arada’s commitment to sustainability principles and achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing the vital and decisive role that companies can play in promoting community well-being and environmental sustainability.
