Sharjah24: Sharjah Police, in collaboration with strategic partners, has launched the "Begging is a crime, giving is a responsibility" campaign to raise public awareness about the dangers of begging and illegal street vending. These activities tend to rise during Ramadan as individuals exploit the season’s generosity for unlawful financial gain.

Efforts to curb begging and illegal activities

Colonel Dr Mohammed Butti Al Hajri, Director of the Security Media Department, noted that some individuals use deceptive methods to solicit money illegally during Ramadan. The campaign, which will run until Eid Al-Fitr, includes dedicated police teams working to monitor and address these issues.

 Encouraging community involvement

Sharjah Police is intensifying awareness efforts through social media to discourage begging and preserve the emirate’s security and social values. Colonel Al Hajri urged the public to remain vigilant, support charitable initiatives through authorised organisations, and report any begging incidents by calling 901 or 80040.
