Sharjah 24: Coinciding with the approaching holy month of Ramadan, the Sharjah Public Works Department has completed Omair bin Abi Waqqas Mosque in the Al Sajaa area. The mosque covers an area of 560 square metres and can accommodate 400 worshipers. This development is part of ongoing efforts to provide houses of worship according to the highest engineering and architectural standards, ensuring a spiritually enriching environment for the community.

Mosque design and facilities

The mosque features an elegant Islamic design that blends authenticity with modernity. It includes integrated facilities, such as a 127-square-metre residence for the imam, ablution areas, toilets, and a service building. Additionally, 330 square meters of external tiling have been installed to ensure ease of access and movement. Sustainability standards have been prioritised in the construction, with energy-saving lighting systems and environmentally friendly materials.

Supporting Sharjah’s vision for religious infrastructure

This project is part of Sharjah’s broader vision to develop mosques and religious infrastructure, aligning with the emirate’s urban renaissance. It enhances the city’s role in supporting Islamic values and providing integrated places of worship to meet community needs. With over 3,300 mosques and prayer halls in the emirate, this new mosque further supports the spiritual well-being of the society.
