Sharjah 24: Sharjah Asset Management (SAM), the investment arm of the Sharjah Government, has announced the pilot launch of the first digital taxi booking service in the Emirate of Sharjah via the Yango application. This collaboration with Yango Group aims to enhance transportation services in the emirate, offering users safe, fast, and convenient options.

Vision and strategic importance

His Excellency Walid Al Sayegh, CEO of SAM, emphasised that the launch aligns with the organisation's long-term vision to offer value-added services that keep pace with developments. This initiative reflects Sharjah Asset Management’s dedication to innovative, technology-driven solutions that promote sustainable transportation systems.

Operational details and benefits

The pilot phase begins on February 25, 2025, with 500 Sharjah Taxi vehicles participating. Customers can track trip details, provide feedback, and evaluate drivers through the app. This service reduces random wandering, decreases pollution, and extends vehicle life.

Future impact and accessibility

Islam Abdel Karim, Regional Director of Yango Middle East, expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting the potential for this service to become central to Sharjah’s future transportation landscape. The Yango app, available on Android and iOS, offers a seamless and efficient booking experience in multiple languages.
