Sharjah 24: As part of the “Zakki” Ramadan campaign, the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF) launched the "Ahl Al-Wud" social initiative. A dialogue session, led by family counselor Aisha Al-Huwaidi, was held with mothers affiliated with the foundation.

The session focused on the importance of strengthening the bonds between orphaned children, their mothers, and their father’s family, encouraging them to maintain these relationships after the loss of the father.

Foundation’s vision

The "Ahl Al-Wud" initiative aligns with the Foundation’s mission to empower its members socially, promote family cohesion, and build trust and respect among family members. The name "Ahl Al-Wud" reflects intimacy, love, and positive social communication, which are key to nurturing family ties and fostering strong, supportive relationships.

Goals and objectives of the programme

Mona bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Foundation, emphasised the importance of family in providing security, stability, and support to bereaved individuals. Through the "Ahl Al-Wud" initiative, the Foundation aims to rebuild relationships and promote family cohesion in an interactive, human-centered approach. The programme will offer a series of dialogue sessions, family visits, and activities that help enhance psychological and social stability.

Community and family cohesion

The initiative is also part of the Year of Community initiatives, aiming to strengthen social ties and foster values of love and communication. It seeks to create an environment of familiarity and closeness, contributing to a more cohesive society. The program goes beyond family meetings, focusing on reconnecting broken ties, correcting misconceptions, and facilitating dialogues that help improve family relationships based on mutual understanding and friendliness.

Follow-up and evaluation

To ensure the success of the initiative, follow-up and evaluation mechanisms will be implemented. These will include questionnaires after each session, with social specialists tracking the development of family relationships. The program is expected to enhance orphans' sense of belonging and rebuild trust with their families.

Aisha Al-Huwaidi’s remarks

Aisha Al-Huwaidi expressed her happiness with the session, highlighting the importance of harmony, communication, and maintaining family ties after the father’s death. She emphasised the need for a pure heart, free from negative energy, and urged participants to comfort each other, build a strong generation, and unite as a community.

Ongoing support and empowerment

The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation continues to implement programs that empower orphans and their families, providing them with the necessary psychological and social support to thrive. These initiatives aim to create a positive environment for growth and enhance the active role of orphans and their families in society.
