SDD educates elderly about deepfake technologies, their risks

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Digital Department hosted an awareness workshop on deepfake technology for members of the Elderly Services Center at Al Asalah Club. This workshop aimed to educate participants about the emerging technological developments impacting their daily lives, particularly the rise of deepfake technologies.

Understanding deepfakes and their impact on social media

During the workshop, the concept of deepfakes was explained, along with their growing impact on social media. Participants were taught how to differentiate between real and fake videos and images, a critical skill in today’s digital age.

Addressing the risks of deepfake technology

The dangers of deepfake technology, such as its potential to spread fake news or harm reputations, were also highlighted. The workshop provided strategies and tools to help the elderly protect themselves from misleading content and the risks associated with these technologies.
