The workshop aims to introduce participating schools in the second round of the Health Promoting Schools Program, which seeks to create a healthy and sustainable school environment that supports the health of students and faculty members. The workshop also provided a detailed explanation of the program and its various standards in cooperation with partners from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, and the Emirates Health Foundation, in addition to providing opportunities for interaction and participation through group work sessions and presentations.
The program objectives were also presented, which are to provide a comprehensive vision about the Health Promoting Schools Program and its importance, in addition to introducing participants to the standards adopted in the program and how to apply them, and enabling schools to develop practical plans to achieve the required standards.
It is worth noting that the schedule for the Health Promoting Schools Program this year includes explaining the criteria, then the self-evaluation phase for schools and preparing the action plan. There will also be virtual follow-up meetings with schools during the coming month of March, in addition to visits that will be organized to support participating schools. At the end of the program, schools will be evaluated by monitoring the evidence and attachments at the end of next May.
Iman Rashid Saif stressed that the “Health Promoting Schools” programme is one of the most important initiatives of the HPD, through which we aim to provide an environment that promotes the health of children and adolescents, and enable them to develop healthy behaviours in order to prepare them for all stages of life, as they are the basis of the development process, and to advance society in a way that contributes to improving the health reality in the Emirate of Sharjah, in translation of the wise visions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, and their directives on the necessity of preparing schools for a healthy and ideal environment for their students, and working to care for the health of children and adolescents because investing in them is an investment in a bright future.
