Al Hawami district discusses plans to foster social solidarity

Sharjah 24: The Council of Al Hawami District in Khorfakkan, affiliated with the Districts Affairs Department, held its first meeting of 2025. This meeting was part of the council’s ongoing efforts to promote community cohesion, enhance services for citizens, and reinforce the spirit of social solidarity in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Strengthening community engagement

The meeting was chaired by Ali Ibrahim Al Hosani, Vice Chairman of the Al Hawami District Council, in the presence of council members and staff. Discussions focused on several key topics, including initiatives to strengthen communication among residents and enhance community projects that contribute to the development of services and the integration of society with service institutions.

In his address, Ali Ibrahim Al Hosani emphasised that Districtcouncils play a crucial role as a bridge between residents and government entities. He highlighted their role in fostering cooperation, proposing initiatives that support social stability, and addressing the needs of neighbourhood residents.

He added, "District councils operate under the guidance of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, who places great importance on strengthening social bonds and supporting initiatives that drive sustainable social development. This meeting marks the beginning of a new year of dedicated work to serve the residents of Al Hawami District through projects and initiatives aimed at improving social, cultural, and developmental services."

Developing community initiatives

The meeting explored the importance of advancing community initiatives, with members presenting various proposals to enhance residents’ active participation in different activities. The discussion also covered strategies for improving service delivery and mechanisms for collaboration with government entities to ensure integrated services that promote social stability and meet citizens’ needs to the highest standards.

Attendees commended the efforts of the Districts Affairs Department in Sharjah for its continued support of councils and its role in fostering social development and community engagement. They acknowledged the department’s commitment to implementing plans and programmes aligned with the emirate’s strategy to build a cohesive and cooperative society.

Commitment to social cohesion

During the meeting, council members reaffirmed their commitment to developing programmes and initiatives that strengthen family and community bonds. They stressed that their efforts align with Sharjah’s strategic plans to provide a supportive living environment and promote family cohesion.

Action plan for 2025

At the conclusion of the meeting, a comprehensive action plan for 2025 was outlined. This plan includes the implementation of various community initiatives, strengthened cooperation with government entities, and the launch of programmes targeting youth and senior citizens. The council also emphasised the importance of promoting volunteerism and community participation, alongside organising regular meetings with residents to ensure ongoing dialogue and responsiveness to their needs and aspirations.

The council confirmed that the upcoming phase will witness intensified efforts to enhance social solidarity and support social sustainability through new projects aimed at fostering stronger family and community ties. It reaffirmed its commitment to teamwork and collaboration with relevant authorities and residents to create a cohesive social environment. Furthermore, members underscored the importance of community participation in shaping development efforts and contributing to making Sharjah’s districts a model of well-being and social stability.
