Sharjah 24: The Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators has announced the launch of the 2025–2026 parliamentary cycle for the Sharjah Children’s Shura Council and Sharjah Youth Shura Council under the theme Leadership in Community Service. The initiative aims to empower young people by fostering civic engagement and leadership skills, in line with Sharjah’s long-standing commitment to participatory governance.

A legacy of youth engagement

Established in 1997 under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and with the ongoing support of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, the councils provide a platform for youth to voice their perspectives. The Sharjah Children’s Shura Council, the first of its kind in the Arab world, was launched in 1997, followed by the Sharjah Youth Shura Council in 2005. Each parliamentary cycle trains approximately 140 young members in governance and leadership, many of whom go on to serve in key roles within the UAE.

Application details

The Sharjah Children’s Shura Council is open to Emirati children aged 8–10, while the Sharjah Youth Shura Council welcomes participants aged 13–16 from Sharjah’s Youth Centres and Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills and successfully pass a selection interview. Applications are open from 5–15 February 2025 via [register.rqshoora.ae](https://register.rqshoora.ae).
