Strengthening social cohesion and family support
During the meeting, Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi highlighted the vital role of supporting families and communities by strengthening social connections within neighbourhoods. He emphasised that district councils serve as dynamic platforms that facilitate interaction between residents and decision-makers, ensuring effective communication between the government and families. This approach aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who advocates for open dialogue and community engagement to fulfil the aspirations of the emirate’s residents.

Officials from the department provided an overview of their initiatives, including efforts to foster social unity through events that strengthen family ties, position the family as a cornerstone of societal stability, and organise district councils as key forums for direct community engagement. They also discussed projects designed to integrate various sectors for community service, as well as the role of parents' councils in supporting students. The team further elaborated on the department’s commitment to implementing strategies that align with Sharjah’s vision of leadership in social and developmental initiatives, including identifying community needs, examining social trends, hosting events, and assisting financially disadvantaged families.

Collaboration for sustainable community development
Saeed Matar bin Hamed Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Family Affairs Committee, praised the Districts Affairs Department’s contributions to social cohesion and family welfare, stressing the importance of continued collaboration to achieve meaningful progress in community development.

Halima Hamid Al Owais, Vice Chairperson of the Consultative Council, commended the department’s wide-ranging initiatives and highlighted the key role of district councils in reinforcing social bonds and improving quality of life for residents.

Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi reiterated the department’s commitment to refining its strategies and programmes to better meet the evolving needs of Sharjah’s residents. He noted that the visit by the Family Affairs Committee provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the department’s initiatives and enhance cooperation between the Consultative council and local institutions, ensuring the provision of impactful and well-rounded social services.

The visit concluded with an agreement on the need for ongoing collaboration and the promotion of community-driven initiatives that contribute to balanced and sustainable development across Sharjah.
