The Khorfakkan Amphitheatre, inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on December 14, 2020, features a semi-circular structure with a capacity of over 3,500 spectators. This 1,700 square metre amphitheatre combines ancient Roman architectural style with Islamic design elements. The structure includes 234 arches and 295 columns, reflecting the cultural identity of Sharjah.
Equipped with advanced sound, lighting, and cooling systems, Khorfakkan Amphitheatre ensures a comfortable and enjoyable experience for visitors. These modern amenities complement the cultural and architectural beauty, enhancing the atmosphere for the various events held throughout the year.
Adding a touch of nature to the amphitheatre, the artificial waterfall near the venue is carved into the rock, creating a stunning visual experience. The 45-meter long, 11-meter wide waterfall stands 43 metres above sea level and offers a unique view from a cave at the top, where visitors can enjoy the descending water, especially during the evening when the lighting effects enhance the scene.
The amphitheatre’s design blends Roman and Islamic civilizations, offering visitors an opportunity to learn about the arts and architectural heritage of these cultures.
The waterfall’s flowing water is particularly beautiful in the evening, with lighting effects enhancing the natural spectacle, making it a perfect spot for relaxation.
The amphitheatre hosts various performances and events throughout the year, allowing visitors to enjoy them in a historic and scenic setting.
With outdoor seating available for up to 30 people, the amphitheatre provides a tranquil environment to relax before or after the events. Visitors can also take a leisurely walk along the beach.
The Waterfall Cave includes a café and restaurant, offering a variety of food and beverages for more than 80 guests, perfect for a break during visits to the amphitheatre.
Khorfakkan Amphitheatre is part of the development vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, aiming to enhance cultural and artistic scenes in the Emirate of Sharjah.
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Member of the Executive Council, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, and Chairman of the Sharjah Petroleum Council, commended the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre for its role in promoting Emirati and Arab art, as well as international arts. He stated, "Sharjah is the cultural capital of the UAE, and Khorfakkan is an integral part of our emirate. The amphitheatre will serve as a gateway to showcase Emirati, Arab, and global arts. We envision it as a distinguished venue for social interaction and family gatherings, blending the rich heritage of the past with the vibrancy of the present."
