Sharjah24: On 30 November 2024, the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club concluded its Elite Archery Camp, a vibrant gathering of over 40 athletes from eight countries. Designed to elevate both the technical and mental prowess of participants, the camp offered a unique platform for athletic and cultural exchange.
A highlight of the event was a special sports day on 26 November, commencing with a ceremony where Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice Chairperson of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, presented commemorative shields to the delegations in recognition of their contributions to the camp’s success.
In her remarks, Al Mahmoud said: “Training camps like this provide a golden opportunity for athletes to refine their skills away from the pressures of official competitions. Under the gracious guidance of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, we remain steadfast in our mission to create world-class environments that nurture talent and ambition.”
She further emphasised the camp’s holistic approach: “This initiative goes beyond physical training, placing equal focus on the psychological preparedness of athletes. Bringing together elite international players has elevated the level of competitiveness and fostered an invaluable exchange of expertise among participants.”
The camp also featured an inspiring talk by Estonian Olympian Reena Parnat, who shared her journey in the world of archery and lauded the event’s exceptional organisation. “The facilities here are truly world-class,” Parnat noted. “This kind of camp broadens horizons for aspiring athletes and sets a benchmark for global training experiences.”
Adding to the accolades, Coach Elina Labsina of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club highlighted the camp’s transformative impact:
“Training alongside top-tier international athletes has boosted the confidence of our players, leading to a remarkable improvement in their performance.”
Hessa Al Awadhi, a member of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club team, expressed her pride in participating, saying: “Competing with international athletes showed me what I’m capable of achieving. The unwavering support from the club and the foundation fuels our aspirations to reach new heights, including representing the UAE at the Olympics.”
Over 15 days of intensive training and friendly competitions, the camp brought together athletes from countries including Tajikistan, Georgia, Estonia, Armenia, Saudi Arabia (represented by Al-Qadsiah Club), Uzbekistan, Lithuania, and Kazakhstan. This diverse mix not only elevated the camp’s global appeal but also earned unanimous praise from participants.
As the successful edition concluded, the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to launching more groundbreaking initiatives that inspire future generations and reinforce Sharjah’s status as a beacon of sports excellence.
