SWSC outperforms SWSC’s Eastern Branch in Basketball Final

Sharjah24: Sharjah Women's Sports Club secured an impressive victory over the Eastern Branch of Sharjah Women's Sports Club, winning the first leg of the General Women's Basketball League final for the 2024-2025 season with a score of 73-41. The match took place at the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club Arena.
The rematch is set for Saturday, December 14, at the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, Eastern Branch, and it promises to bring even more excitement between the two teams.

Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice President of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, highlighted the accomplishments of the players, stating: “Today, we acknowledge women’s sporting achievements that contribute to the record of the Emirate of Sharjah. The progress of the three clubs affiliated with the Foundation to this final stage reflects the implementation of our strategy to empower women in sports, in line with the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi. The atmosphere observed today, characterized by a diverse audience and significant enthusiasm from children and families, indicates that sports have become integrated into our culture.” She noted the visible enthusiasm of young girls for sports, which aligns with the goal of fostering an appreciation for sports in future generations.

Moza Al Shamsi, Director of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, addressed the achievements observed in recent competitions. She noted that the presence of players in these events demonstrates the foundation's efforts to establish role models in women's sports. The progress in various age groups is indicative of a commitment to the development of women’s sports, and there is an expectation that this trajectory of success will continue alongside the sporting values that are being promoted.

Walid Al Hajri, coach of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club team, stated after the match: “The players demonstrated strong tactical performance, successfully imposing our style of play from the outset. We acknowledge that the Eastern Branch team may present a stronger challenge in the second leg, and we are prepared for that.”

Coach Fatima Zaghrouba of the Sharjah Women's Sports Club team, Eastern Branch, stated, "Despite the significant difference in experience, the match provided an opportunity to engage with experienced players. We will analyze the performance to identify strengths and improve the implementation of our strategies for the second leg."

Alia Al Naqbi, a player for Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, commented on the recent performance of her team, stating: "The results today demonstrate the effectiveness of team spirit and teamwork in achieving success. The support from the audience was significant, providing added motivation. The team aims to maintain this level of performance and prepare thoroughly for the second leg in order to compete for the title and uphold the position that has been attained, supported by the club and the institution."

Arwa Obaid Bin Dhahi stated, “This win marks a significant step toward retaining the title. The match presented challenges, but the team demonstrated strong spirit, and the support from fans contributed to our performance. The focus now is on maintaining this level of performance in the second leg.”

Anoud Omar, a player for the Eastern Branch team, stated, "Despite the significant challenge, we are confident in our ability to improve in the second leg. The support from the club contributes to our determination to achieve victory."

In the third-place match, the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy team secured a hard-earned victory over the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, Central Branch, finishing with a score of 37-34. Held at the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, Central Branch, the match showcased the impressive skills and fierce competitiveness of both teams.
