To this end, the ISESCO Regional Office in Sharjah has launched new digital accounts on Instagram under the handle icesco.ae, and X (formerly known as Twitter) under the name Icescoae. These platforms will serve as a dynamic hub for a wide range of content, showcasing events, initiatives, and key insights aimed at advancing societal development. This aligns with ISESCO's strategic objectives of promoting sustainable development, human values, and fostering coexistence and cultural diversity among its member states.
Established in 2001, the Sharjah office is one of ISESCO's most prominent regional branches, functioning as a vital link for sharing knowledge and expertise among Islamic nations. It plays a crucial role in capacity building and community development through various educational, scientific, cultural, and heritage preservation programs. The activities hosted by the office are designed to bridge communication among peoples and raise awareness of cultural and scientific achievements within the Islamic world.
Salem Omar Salem, Director of the ISESCO Regional Office in Sharjah, highlighted the significance of these platforms in enhancing media presence and engagement as part of the organization's broader vision. He emphasized that these digital avenues will effectively showcase the office's activities and invite public interaction, paving the way for collaborative efforts toward building a brighter future for Islamic societies.
Through these channels, the regional office is committed to promoting various events, including workshops, seminars, and international conferences, that encourage dialogue across cultures and further educational and research initiatives aligned with sustainable development goals. These endeavors are in line with ISESCO’s mission to lead in education, science, and culture, while fostering solidarity and innovation among its member states.
Salem Omar also pointed out that the Sharjah office reflects the aspirations of the UAE, emphasizing its influential role in promoting Islamic culture on the international stage. This vision is rooted in the principles set forth by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who dedicated efforts to serve nations globally.
It's important to note that ISESCO has been functioning since its establishment in 1982, encompassing 53 member states across four geographic regions. The organization focuses on enhancing collaboration among countries in education, science, culture, and heritage preservation while striving to meet global challenges, including poverty alleviation, social justice, climate change, and environmental issues.
