Sharjah24: The Legislative and Legal Affairs, Appeals, Suggestions and Complaints Committee of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) met to discuss a proposed law concerning pensions and end-of-service benefits for military personnel within regulatory bodies throughout the emirate.
The committee received the draft law during the council's earlier session. This morning, the council’s headquarters in Sharjah hosted a meeting chaired by Mohammed Ali Al Hammadi, the committee's head. The committee members in attendance were Mohammed Saleh Al Ali, Hamad Abdullah Al Riyami, Rashid Saleh Al Hammadi, Obaid Ishaq Al Mazmi, and Khalifa Mohammed Bou Ghanem. Youssef Hassan Al Ali, the legal advisor, and Saif Bin Sweif Al Ketbi, the committee secretary, were also in attendance.

The committee convened to examine the draft law’s provisions and clauses, paying particular attention to its essential articles. This included a review of the eligibility criteria for pensions and benefits, the mechanisms for their disbursement, and the transitional provisions concerning membership requirements.

The committee highlighted the legal and financial elements included in the draft law, aiming to establish strong regulations for subscriptions, advantages, and pension calculations.

The committee shared its views on various articles, highlighting the significance of regulatory measures specifically designed for the distinct characteristics of Sharjah’s military organisations. The committee will continue its comprehensive review of the draft law in forthcoming meetings, leading to the submission of its final report to the Consultative Council for discussion and approval.
