Sharjah 24: Shaza Omar Ibrahim, coordinator of the Health-promoting shopping centres programme, launched by the Health Education Department of Sharjah Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), explained that the programme is the first of its kind in the UAE.
Shaza Omar Ibrahim stated that the department honoured, on Thursday, 5 shopping centres that applied health-promoting standards, namely: City Centre Al Zahia in the gold category, Mega Mall Sharjah and Sahara Centre in Sharjah in the silver category, and Zero 6 and City Centre Sharjah in the bronze category.
Speaking exclusively to Sharjah 24, Ibrahim pointed out that the programme aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and physical activity as a preventive lifestyle, and to raise the level of health awareness among individuals who frequent shopping malls.
Shaza Omar Ibrahim added that the programme is based on several criteria, the most prominent of which is opening the doors of shopping malls an hour before working hours, banning smoking, and the presence of facilities that support people with special needs and breastfeeding mothers.
