Sharjah24: Saleh Obaid Al Tunaiji, General Coordinator of the Sharjah Desert Theatre Festival (SDTF), has announced that the festival's 8th edition is set to commence on December 13. The opening performance will feature 'The Blood-Stained Robe', a work by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
The festival, with the generous support of His Highness, will showcase the participation of five countries: the UAE, Tunisia, Jordan, Egypt, and Mauritania. Following each play, there will be a thoughtful discussion aimed at delving into the themes and messages conveyed in the performances.
Al Tunaiji emphasised the festival's different diversity and lively ambiance, positioning it as a perfect occasion for both individuals and families. The festival features complimentary luxury tents for families, enticing prizes, and a variety of engaging activities, welcoming the community to join in the celebrations.
Scheduled for December 14 and 15, the festival will feature an intellectual symposium entitled “Desert Theatre: Experience and Awareness.” This event aims to explore the influence of the festival on the Arab theatrical landscape through both practical and theoretical lenses. Notable participants in the discussions include Mohammed Al Ameri and Abdullah Masoud from the UAE, Hafez Khalifa and Nizar Al Saeedi from Tunisia, Dalia Hammam and Adel Hassan from Egypt, Yousef Zaafan from Algeria, Mohammed Al Dhamour from Jordan, and Sali Abdel Fattah from Mauritania.
