His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development Affairs and Martyrs' Families, visited the Sharjah pavilion, where he was briefed on the various initiatives, platforms, and activities hosted by the emirate’s leading media stakeholders.
The discussions on the opening day at the Sharjah pavilion included scientific journalism in the Arab world, a special reading of the book "Government Storytelling", in addition to spotlighting the experience of the Child Safety Department, Sharjah of winning the Sharjah Government Communication Award in the Best Communication Work Targeting Children and Youth category.
The activities showcased the pioneering role and extraordinary success of the emirate in the education sector. The Sharjah pavilion also hosted training workshops on the role and impact of charisma in the media, art of scriptwriting and the industry content, and the shift to innovation.
The session "From Innovation to Application: Education in Sharjah is a Global Pioneering Model", featured HE Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority and Sharjah Education Academy, HE Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Human Resources Department, and Dr. Mohamed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah.
Moderated by Dr. Abdussalam Al Hammadi, the session explored the connection between the Arabic language and cultural identity and ways to enhance the uses of the Arabic language in education and knowledge.
The participants called for employing modern technology and advanced educational programs for innovation in teaching the Arabic language, underscoring the importance of scientific research in developing linguistic studies that enhance the role of the Arabic language in educational curricula enriching the Arab linguistic and cultural heritage.
Child Safety Experience in Sharjah in Winning the Government Communication Award
HE Hanadi Al Yafei, Director General of the Child Safety Department in Sharjah, reviewed the experience of winning the Sharjah Government Communication Award in the Best Communication Work Targeting Children and Young People category.
She discussed the department’s efforts in promoting child safety and community awareness concepts, the effective management system that includes multiple initiatives and campaigns in the areas of safety and security for children and young people.
Al Yafei also touched on the department’s strategy of promoting dialogue and communication channels on children’s issues and community awareness about them, and ways to enhance community participation through strategic partnerships in line with Sharjah’s vision and goals of ensuring children’s safety.
The Sharjah Government Media Pavilion also hosted a session titled "Scientific Journalism in the Arab Media", in which Hussein Al-Moussawi, Editor-in-Chief of National Geographic Arabia, and Abdul Latif Al-Sayegh, Chairman of Al-Sayegh Media Company, participated.
Media professional Mariam Fikry moderated the discussion highlighting the role of scientific journalism in enhancing public awareness of various research and scientific issues and how to present them in a simplified and smooth manner that goes beyond traditional news coverage.
The debate emphasised the importance of allocating journalistic spaces that allow in-depth discussions, according to an informative and interpretive context and various branches of science. The participants explored the reasons for the weak presence of scientific journalism in the Arab world and how to support the production of Arab scientific reports that support the dissemination of knowledge and scientific culture.
The Sharjah pavilion also held an engaging reading session of the book, Government Storytelling, presented by Prof Dr. Mohammed Ayesh of the American University of Sharjah and a member of the Academic Committee of the International Government Communication Forum. The session highlighted the concept and characteristics of storytelling in communication, the importance, effectiveness and components of storytelling, with the presentation of scientific research, experiments and applied models for the successful uses of storytelling and digital narration in government communication and public relations.
The Sharjah pavilion organised four training workshops on the day one of the Abu Dhabi Media Congress on topics -- relationship between charisma and media, content creation, scriptwriting, and innovation.
Trainer Ahmed Lootah tackled the role and impact of charisma in the media, offering practical examples and models on the characteristics of media charisma and explaining its concepts in detail and how to employ it effectively in the media field. He also touched on the basics of body language and the extent of its role in the success of media discourse.
The content creation workshop, presented by trainer Younis Al Hosani, highlighted the skills and mechanisms of content creation and production, and ways of publishing or dissemination that help attract the attention and engagement of the target audience. He explained the various techniques of developing digital content consistent with the needs and demands of the target audience.
Screenwriter Mohammed Hassan Ahmed explored the successful skills of writing scripts and dialogue, the mechanisms and stages of building a narrative and characters, and how to formulate a successful idea by using various writing styles, and the factors responsible for the success of a feature film.
The Transformation to Innovation workshop, conducted by technology solutions expert Ahmed Kamal, presented the concepts that contribute to innovative thinking in institutions. He discussed ways of benefiting from modern technology and artificial intelligence to create new ideas and strategies through which the values of innovation can be established among employees.
The Sharjah government media agenda at the Congress this year is diverse showcasing Sharjah's rich media, cultural, knowledge and investment infrastructure and offerings that celebrate the distinguished legacy of the past and the aspirations of the present and the future.
