Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) launched the inaugural edition of the Eastern Region Volunteer Exhibition on Monday, in partnership with the University of Khorfakkan (UKF). This event, taking place at the university, is a component of the seventh series of Sharjah Volunteerism Exhibitions conducted throughout the emirate.
Fatima Musa Al Balushi, Executive Director of the Award, announced the opening of the exhibition, attended by Shaikha Ali Al Naqbi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Khor Fakkan for Financial and Administrative Affairs; Professor Kashif Kifayah, Vice Director for Academic Affairs; Dr Huda Al Naqbi, Director of Student Affairs; Dr Mona Al Mulla, Director of Public Relations; and Zahra Ali Al Mazmi, Media Office Head of the Award. In a statement to "Sharjah 24," Al Balushi emphasised that 14 government entities, NGOs, and volunteer teams are taking part in the exhibition, scheduled for November 18–19. She highlighted the exhibition's aim of fostering a culture of volunteerism and improving community involvement.
She mentioned that the exhibition is part of a series of Sharjah Volunteering Exhibitions held throughout the emirate, encompassing Sharjah City, the Central Region, and the Eastern Region. The purpose of these events is to highlight volunteer opportunities, initiatives, and programmes in the UAE with involvement from both government and community organisations.
The exhibitors feature a diverse array of organisations, including the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the Emirates Volunteer Association, the Dubai Volunteer Divers Team, and the Environment and Protected Areas Authority—Khorfakkan Branch.
Additionally, the Parents Council in Dibba Al-Hisn, under the Department of Suburbs Affairs, is represented, along with the Sharjah Volunteer Centre—Eastern Region, Sharjah Charity International, and the Fujairah Social and Cultural Association. The Sharjah Institute for Heritage, Emirates Red Crescent, Sharjah Archaeology Authority, the SANID programme of Emirates Foundation, UKF, and the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work also participate.
