Sharjah 24: During its meeting today, Monday, the Public Utilities Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) examined the 2024 draft law concerning the restructuring of the emirate’s police and security forces.
The committee, assigned to examine and report on the legal aspects of the draft, gathered at the council's headquarters in Sharjah, chaired by Ahmed Rashid Al Shamsi, the committee rapporteur.

Several council members attended the meeting, including Halima Humaid Al Owais, Vice Chair of the Consultative Council (SCC), and Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Secretary-General of the council.

Also present were the council’s legal adviser, session affairs officer, and representatives from various departments and committees.

In accordance with Article 7(4) of Law No. 2 of 1999 regarding the formation of the Sharjah Executive Council and Article 72 of the council's internal regulations, the committee reviewed the draft law that the Chair of the Consultative Council (SCC) submitted.

The discussions addressed the goals specified in the draft law, focusing on improving police operations, updating military ranks, administration, equipment, and expenditures. Additional subjects encompassed regulations regarding the use of force, judicial power, and strategies to uphold public security, order, and decency, thereby guaranteeing safety and confidence for every individual in the community.
