Sharjah24: As part of its efforts to enhance sustainability, Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW) has planted a Ghaf tree at its main building in the Nasiriyah area, which is considered a national and cultural symbol of the UAE. This initiative is in response to a call by the Environment and Protected Areas Authority, 'Ghaf Tree in Every Institution,' celebrating the 59th National Day of the United Arab Emirates.
Amal Ali, Head of the Public Relations Department at the Corporate Communication Center, emphasized that planting the Ghaf tree reflects the values of sustainability and environmental love, which are part of the country's vision for the future. Therefore, it represents a part of its vision to enhance environmental awareness among community members and encourage community participation in environmental projects. The Ghaf tree symbolizes tolerance, as it is known for its ability to adapt to various climatic conditions.

She noted that the initiative aligns with the wise leadership's vision to promote sustainability and preserve the natural heritage of the UAE, emphasizing the importance of collaborative roles between government entities and the local community in achieving sustainable development goals.
