Sharjah24: International Master Salm Abdulrahman, a player for the national team and Sharjah Chess Club, secured first place in the rapid chess championship as part of the Arab Individual Chess Championship for men and women organized by the Arab Chess Federation.
International Master Salm Abdulrahman achieved first place in the rapid chess championship at the Arab Individual Championship hosted by the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, with over 200 players from 18 countries, including many with Arab and international titles.

Salm topped the standings by scoring 5.5 points in 7 rounds, tying with three players: Algeria's Bilal Belhassen in second place, Egypt's Adham Fawzy, and Syria's Mazen Fandi in third. Three players tied with 5 points each: Egypt's Hamid Wafa, Jordan's Loay Samir, and Yemen's Khaled Walid.

In the women's rapid chess competition, Egypt's Joy Romani took first place with 6.5 points, tying with her compatriot Shahinda Wafa in second. UAE national team player Rawda Al Sarkal won the bronze medal with 5 points.

This achievement brought the UAE players' medal tally to five, including gold and silver for Salm Abdulrahman in blitz and rapid formats, and silver and bronze for Rawda Al Sarkal in rapid and blitz, along with a bronze for Anoud Issa from the UAE national team in blitz chess.

Kholoud Al Zarouni, a board member of the UAE Chess Federation, stated that the tournament yielded significant achievements in technical, organizational, and administrative aspects through the hosting of the Arab event by the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club. She noted that the participation of many club players, including national team members, provided them with strong exposure to different playing styles and increased their international ranking, in addition to enhancing the experience of our referees in managing matches.
