Sharjah24: ifty athletes took part in an awareness workshop on the dangers of drugs, organized by the Dibba Al-Hisn Sports and Cultural Club. During the session, they gained valuable insights into the various risks associated with drug use and learned effective prevention strategies. This comprehensive workshop aimed to raise awareness among players and their families, empowering them with the knowledge needed to make informed choices.
Dibba Al-Hisn Club, in collaboration with the Sharjah Sports Council and Sharjah Police, conducted the workshop as part of their joint efforts to promote the mental and physical well-being of athletes.
The workshop is part of the club’s dedication to guiding and educating young individuals about important issues that impact their lives and health. Major Khalid Mohammed Al Zaabi conducted the workshop from the Anti-Narcotics Department of Sharjah Police. He highlighted the grave dangers associated with drug use and the severe consequences that stem from their abuse.
The workshop enjoyed a fantastic turnout, with fifty players from the club's various teams in attendance. Abdullah Saeed Al Watari Al Dhahouri, Chairman of the Individual Games Committee, was also present, along with several supervisors, administrators, and coaches. The gathering was marked by lively interactions and constructive discussions, which not only enriched the content but also deepened the players' understanding of the significance of the topic at hand.
During the workshop, Major Al Zaabi highlighted several common factors that can lead young people to experiment with drugs. He emphasized that these factors, which range from psychological and social pressures to a mere curiosity, could be mitigated. By promoting awareness and strengthening the psychological, social, and religious foundations of youth, we can create a protective environment that helps steer them away from drugs.
