Sharjah 24: The Moroccan Poetry Festival concluded the sixth edition, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the Moroccan King Mohammed VI; and organised by the House of Poetry in Marrakech, in cooperation with Sharjah Department of Culture, and the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, over 3 days with the wide participation of Moroccan poets, intellectuals, critics and artists.
The closing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Department of Culture; Professor Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Department; Rashid Mustafa, Head of the Cooperation Department at the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication; Dr. Abdul Jalil Lakrifa, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech; Abdel Haq Mefrani, Director of the House of Poetry in Marrakech; and a large number of academics, students and those interested in poetry.

During the three special days, the festival opened its doors to creative writers coming from different Moroccan cities, such as Laayoune, Tarfaya, Taroudant, and the Souss-Massa region, turning the city of Marrakech a meeting place for creative writers from all over Morocco during the festival period, which saw a remarkable creative momentum for more than 30 Moroccan poets, critics, and artists.

While the festival was moving between cultural and academic institutions and several areas within the city of Marrakech, celebrating the poem and its creators, the "Red City" was celebrating being selected as the Capital of Culture in the Islamic World for the year 2024, to complete the cultural scene connected to the creative poetic, heritage, and historical pillars, amidst a large presence that confirms the importance of the poetic event in the southern Moroccan city.

Participants in the Moroccan Poetry Festival believe that the Sharjah Cultural Project is the product of an integrated cultural vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and extends to include the Arab nation as a whole, and the cultural dimension in its various components and creative types.

Participants confirmed that the Sharjah Cultural Project drives the wheel of creativity forward, in a perfect manner that shows the serious direction and wise leadership in achieving the cultural influence of the Arab component.

Participants believe that the Moroccan Poetry Festival has responded to all standards of creativity by attracting prominent names from the pioneers across Morocco, and making poetry a major tributary of creativity.

In this context, poet and critic Aisha Amor (winner of the Sharjah Award for Critical Visual Arts Research) pointed out that the Sharjah cultural project is the product of an integrated cultural vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and extends to include the Arab nation as a whole.

Amor pointed out that the vision includes the cultural dimension in its various components and creative types: poetry, narrative, visual arts, and criticism, as well as through organising cultural awards, issuing magazines, and organising art and cultural exhibitions by Sharjah Department of Culture, which has made Sharjah a true beacon of culture, arts, and literature in the Arab world.
