Sharjah24: The House of Poetry in Marrakesh will host a new session of its programme “Al-Diwan” on Friday, at its headquarters located in the Daoudiate Cultural Centre. The event will celebrate newly released poetry collections by Moroccan poets, published within the “Arab Creations” series by the Department of Culture in the Government of Sharjah, in collaboration with the House of Poetry in Marrakesh.

Promoting reading and celebrating Moroccan poetry

This initiative, launched by the House of Poetry in Marrakesh, aims to promote the culture of reading and celebrate Moroccan poets and poetry. It forms part of the ninth cultural and poetic season (2025–2026) and reflects the institution’s creative openness to the sensitivities and experiences of modern Moroccan poetry. The programme embraces diverse poetic generations and schools that enrich Morocco’s literary landscape.

Poetry readings and musical performances

The “Al-Diwan” session will feature poetry readings, book signings, and musical performances by artists Hajiba and Mohamed Ait Al-Qadi, offering audiences a vibrant evening of poetry and music that bridges words and melody.

Honouring contemporary Moroccan poets

This edition of “Al-Diwan” will honour the new poetry collections of Halima El Ismaili, Abdelrahman Ahmou, and Karim Ait Al-Haj, published this year as part of the “Arab Creations” series. Their works — Prophecy of the Mirror, I Lost You in the Whirl of Confession, and Water the Colour of Drowning — add to the ongoing partnership between the Sharjah Department of Culture and the House of Poetry in Marrakesh, creating a platform for Moroccan poets, critics, and translators to share their creative and critical works.

Enriching Arab and Moroccan libraries

The initiative continues to encourage publishing, broaden literary exchange, and strengthen poetry’s presence in Arab libraries. The new season introduces a wide range of titles that enrich both Moroccan and Arab literary collections with creative and critical works exploring the questions and aesthetics of poetry.

This effort reflects the Sharjah Department of Culture’s unwavering commitment to supporting Arab creativity in all its forms, continuing its mission to supply Arab libraries with new publications across the humanities, and opening new horizons for emerging poetic voices across the Arab world.
