Al Qasimia University opens Quran schools in Ghana and Senegal

Sharjah 24: In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, regarding the establishment of Quran memorisation schools in Africa, His Excellency Professor Jamal Salem Al Tarifi, President of Al Qasimia University, opened a number of Quran memorisation schools in Ghana and Senegal.
The opening ceremony in the capital, Accra, was attended by Her Excellency Dr. Badriya Al Shehhi, Chargé d'Affaires of the UAE Embassy in the Republic of Ghana; Dr. Zakaria Noah, Director of International Relations at the University; and a number of prominent figures and representatives of institutions.

During the visit to the Senegalese capital, Dakar, a number of schools were opened in the presence of the Chairman of General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (GAIAE), His Excellency Ammar Lou, and a number of officials in the Senegalese local government.

His Excellency A. Jamal Al Tarifi, President of Al Qasimia University also met with the Minister of Education of the Republic of Senegal, within the framework of cooperation of opening Quran memorisation centrrs in various regions of the Republic. 
His Excellency visited the University of Dakar and met with the academic leaders of the university, with the aim of discussing opportunities to enhance scientific and academic cooperation, attract students, and review the educational programmes offered by the university. 

His Excellency the President of Al Qasimia University expressed his deepest thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammod Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his unlimited and continuous support for the university and His Highness’s honouring of the university in implementing the project of establishing and sponsoring schools for memorising the Holy Quran. 

Al Tarifi stated that Al Qasimia University strives to achieve the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, founder of Al Qasimia University, in spreading knowledge, Islamic sciences, and human values with a moderate, middle-of-the-road vision that contributes to spreading the teachings of the Holy Quran and its sciences in African countries. He pointed out the university’s keenness to benefit from Al Qasimia graduates to work in schools as memorisers and supervisors through licensed centres located in various regions, which the university sponsors and supervises. 

Local officials and parents in Ghana and Senegal appreciated the support, interest and care of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi for the endeavours related to the Holy Quran. Residents expressed their gratitude and thanks to His Highness for his pioneering initiative to establish and sponsor such centres that will have a positive impact in various regions. 

On the sidelines of the visit, His Excellency the President of the University met with a number of graduates of Al Qasimia University in the Republics of Ghana and Senegal. During the meetings, the graduates reviewed their distinguished successes as ambassadors of the university who make an impact and change in their communities with the values of moderation and balance they acquired during their studies at the university. The university graduates expressed their admiration and interest in the idea of establishing Quran memorisation centres, and they expressed their thanks to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for giving them the opportunity to be appointed in those centres.
