Sharjah 24 – WAM: The UAE Rescue Team is pressing ahead with its high-efficiency operations to control widespread wildfires in multiple areas of the Republic of Albania. So far, the team has carried out 21 specialised sorties using two Black Hawk helicopters.

Over 737,000 kilograms of water deployed

These operations have included 419 precise water drops on active fire hotspots, using more than 737,000 kilograms of water. This has significantly contributed to containing the fires and limiting their spread.

Harsh field conditions met with determined efforts

Despite facing extreme heat and rugged geographical terrain, the team has maintained a high level of operational effectiveness. All activities are being conducted in close cooperation and continuous coordination with the relevant Albanian authorities.

Mission launched under UAE presidential directive

The mission began last Monday in the Gramsh forest area and surrounding regions, in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to support Albania in battling the ongoing wildfires.

Strategic coordination to prevent fire rekindling

Coordination meetings are ongoing between the UAE team and Albanian officials to refine operational plans and speed up firefighting efforts. The team is also conducting continuous field monitoring of extinguished zones to prevent the fires from reigniting.
