Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Emirate of Sharjah –based Arabic Language Education Centre for the Gulf States (ALECGS), participated in the ninety-third meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS), held at the Bureau's headquarters in Riyadh.
Attending the meeting were Dr. Abdulrahman Mohammed Alasmi, Director-General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, along with the President of the University of the Arabian Gulf in Bahrain, Undersecretaries from member states' Ministries of Education, directors from centres in Sharjah, Doha, and Kuwait, a representative from the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and Dr. Issa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of the Educational Centre. 

The meeting focused on reviewing the implementation of the Bureau's programmes and the progress of its affiliated centres for the 2023-2024 financial cycle. It also discussed proposed new programmes for the upcoming 2025-2026 cycle, aimed at enhancing education in member states.

The members commended the diverse range and quality of programmes offered, highlighting their alignment with the educational needs and advancements in the region. They emphasised the Bureau's crucial role in fostering cooperation and coordination among the education ministries of member states.

Dr. Al Hammadi presented a report detailing the current session's programmes at the Educational Centre. Key achievements included five studies aimed at improving Arabic language teaching, completion of the first phase of the "I Love Arabic" series, and successful organisation of multiple international conferences and competitions. Additionally, 17 regional and international seminars on Arabic language education were conducted, along with participation in eight book fairs and the launch of 10 training programmes on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. 

In conjunction with the meeting, the Director General and Executive Council members launched the Gulf Digital Educational Library, a significant initiative by the Arab Bureau of Education coinciding with the International Day for Universal Access to Information.
