Sharjah24: Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development, crowned the winners of the Sharjah Government Employees Club Shooting Championship for men and women on Sunday. The event was attended by Sheikh Saud bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah Digital Department, Major General Dr. Mohammed Khamees Al Othmani, Director General of the Sharjah Police Academy, and Ahmed Hamad Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Government Employees Club.
The championship, organized by the club over a single day at the indoor shooting range of the Sharjah Police Academy, saw participation from 45 government entities and around 140 male and female shooters. Members of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, along with numerous officials and employees from the participating government departments, attended the competitions.
Ahmed Hamad Al Suwaidi emphasized that the Sharjah Government Employees Club aimed to encourage employees from various government departments in the Emirate of Sharjah to engage in all types of sports, particularly those that enhance focus, develop mental skills, and set goals, such as shooting. He also highlighted the role of such events in fostering positive competition among employees and making productive use of their leisure time.
He noted that organizing such sports championships aligns with the vision and directives of the wise leadership to focus on people, build their capacities, and develop their skills. This creates an environment conducive to excellence, creativity, and a commitment to success, positively impacting work and contributing to overall performance, thereby equipping employees to achieve strategies that maintain the leadership and efficiency of government work.
In the government institutions competition, the Department of Economic Development secured first place, followed by the Sharjah Documents in second place, and the Social Services Department in third. In the individual women's category, Lama Hisham Zaher Al-Din from Bee’ah Group took first place, while Asma Abdullah Al Ali from the Central Finance Department came in second, and Jawaher Mohammed Al Harmoudi from the Sharjah Government Media Bureau finished third.
The championship was held in a team format for institutions, with each team consisting of four shooters and the option to add a fifth player as a team manager. The final team score was calculated based on the total points of the four shooters, while the individual women's competition was conducted separately, with each player receiving 10 shots.
Sports championships are one of the key regular activities that the Sharjah Government Employees Club is keen to organize throughout the year, as they play an essential role in maintaining the physical and mental fitness of employees.
