Sharjah24: Dr. Khalid Khreis, Director-General of the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts highlighted that the "Roots and Modernity" exhibition, which opened on September 18 and will continue until November 24 at the Sharjah Art Museum (SAM), fosters cultural dialogue among Mediterranean nations. The featured artworks combine tradition and contemporary elements, enhancing the landscape of Arab art.
Dr. Khalid Khreis highlighted the significance of the “Roots and Modernity: Contemporary Mediterranean Arab Art" exhibition, stressing that it showcases a varied array of artworks that blend traditional heritage with contemporary elements in Arab art. A curated group of artists from different Mediterranean nations is taking part, showcasing the region's attractive cultural and artistic diversity.

In an interview with "Sharjah24" Dr. Khreis emphasised the exhibition's distinctive blend of cultural and traditional roots with modern, evolving artistic styles. The showcased artworks present a harmonious fusion of different artistic techniques, highlighting the diverse experiences and themes explored by the participating artists.

Dr. Khreis explained that the exhibition showcases a collection of paintings and artworks that illustrate significant creative influences drawn from the region’s heritage, while also capturing the transformations taking place in contemporary art. The objective of these works is to promote cultural understanding and encourage artistic exchange among the region's communities, while also showcasing the vibrant progress of Arab art on the global stage.
