Sharjah24: The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) will participate in the 24th Sharjah International Narrative Forum (SINF), held under the theme "Bird Tales" from September 19 to 22, 2024, at the Sharjah Heritage Institute – Arab Heritage Center in the university city. This participation reflects the award's commitment to promoting volunteerism values within the community, especially among children, through a range of activities that combine entertainment and education, aiming to instill the concept of environmental and community volunteering in the younger generation.
The award's participation includes various activities directed at children, designed to raise awareness about the importance of volunteering in an interactive and engaging manner. One highlight is the volunteer storytelling workshops, where children will read "The Injured Bird," a story inspired by noble values promoted by volunteerism, such as helping others and caring for living beings.

Additionally, there will be a practical workshop for coloring bird feeders, where children will learn to prepare feeders for birds and hang them in parks as part of their contribution to environmental conservation. This activity aims to promote environmental awareness through volunteering and connect children with their natural surroundings.

Awareness and Entertainment Competition for Children:

The forum will also feature a fun and educational competition, where children are encouraged to photograph the bird feeders they have colored and placed in public or their private gardens. This competition aims to inspire children to engage in creative volunteer work and raise their awareness of the importance of the environment and bird conservation as part of the ecosystem.

As part of its efforts to enhance awareness of volunteerism, the award will distribute eco-friendly fabric bags featuring bird illustrations, along with educational materials including the story "Together We Volunteer" and the magazine "The Little Volunteer," which aim to introduce children to the concept of volunteering and encourage their participation in community and environmental activities.

The participation will also include a special instant photography segment for children, allowing them to capture memorable moments during the activities, which will be printed on-site as a lovely keepsake of their experience at the forum.

Promoting Volunteer Values in the Community:

On this occasion, Fatima Mousa Al-Balooshi, Executive Director of the SAVW , stated that our participation in the SINF aligns with our commitment to enhancing volunteer values among future generations and providing educational and entertainment initiatives with an environmental and community focus. We believe that instilling these values at an early age contributes to building a conscious society capable of positively impacting its environment and community.

Al-Balooshi added that the award collaborates with various government entities to promote and instill volunteer values among a broad segment of the community, particularly children. She expressed appreciation for the continued efforts of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage in supporting this noble cause.

Furthermore, Al-Balooshi highlighted that the award organizes a series of programs aimed at children, including practical and theoretical workshops, alongside educational and awareness publications that enhance the concept of volunteering among children through innovative and enjoyable methods, making them active participants in building the community's future. She emphasized that the award's participation represents an important step towards strengthening the presence of volunteerism in various fields and underscoring its pivotal role in shaping a conscious and committed generation dedicated to serving the community, while also teaching children through enjoyable activities how to preserve and improve the environment.
