The exhibition is organised by the Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) in collaboration with the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts and is being held at the Sharjah Art Museum.
His Highness toured the exhibition halls, which will run until November 24, and viewed 80 artworks by prominent figures in contemporary Arab art from the Jordan National Gallery's permanent collection. He received insights into the key paintings and sculptures that blend traditional influences with modern artistic techniques, created by contemporary Arab artists from the southern and eastern Mediterranean region, including North Africa, Egypt, and the Levant.
During his tour, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah explored various exhibits featuring watercolors, fine engravings, and expressive bronze sculptures. He also viewed notable artistic icons such as “The Feast in the Desert” and “Mother Palestine,” with each work offering profound insights into the cultural, social, and political narratives that have shaped the region.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Princess Wijdan Al Hashemi, President of the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Art, exchanged gifts and publications.
The Sharjah Art Museum will host a dialogue session on September 21 to discuss the artistic vision behind the exhibition and explore the broader themes of contemporary Arab art in the Mediterranean region. Additionally, a series of workshops will be offered, focusing on clay art, engraving, watercolor and ink techniques, as well as color layering and geometric abstract art for children, providing participants with a hands-on and diverse artistic experience.
The Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts is a leading cultural institution in the region, featuring a diverse collection of over 3,000 artworks from around the world. It serves as an international platform for showcasing the creativity of artists.
