Sharjah 24: Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), witnessed the issuance of the world’s first commercial license processed entirely through AI technology, taking just 5 minutes from application to receipt.
The new license was introduced at the Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah) pavilion during the seventh session of the Sharjah Investment Forum. This initiative is a collaboration between the Sharjah FDI Office, Microsoft, and the Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone.
The issuance of licenses using AI technology will commence in Sharjah through the Sharjah Investors Services Center (SAEED) and Sharjah Publishing City. This service will also extend to multiple free zones in Sharjah in the near future.

With the new license, Invest in Sharjah becomes the world's first investment promotion agency to utilise artificial intelligence for issuing commercial licenses. This advancement bolsters its capacity to attract investors and foster cooperation between regional and global markets. Meanwhile, Sharjah Publishing City sets a significant milestone as the first free zone to implement AI technology in the licensing process.
The Invest in Sharjah office’s new service aims to improve the flexibility and efficiency of Sharjah's business environment. This initiative aims to simplify the process of establishing companies across various sectors, increase the emirate's appeal to both local and foreign investors, and support the diversification of economic sectors. By addressing the challenges of official procedures, transaction completion, and the time it takes for projects to enter the market—common hurdles for entrepreneurs worldwide—this service will also contribute to the growth of the emirate’s gross domestic product.

The new service builds on Sharjah's strong record in fostering a business-friendly environment. The emirate ranked fifth globally for growth in foreign direct investment projects and fourth in the Gulf for its support of emerging companies. Additionally, Sharjah has made significant strides in integrating technology and artificial intelligence across key sectors, including agriculture, industry, logistics, health, and education.
