Sharjah Education Academy: New Accredited Leadership Programmes

September 15, 2024 / 2:48 PM
Sharjah24: The Sharjah Education Academy has announced the accreditation of its latest academic programmes, delivered through a hybrid learning system. These include the "Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership" and the "Master of Education in Educational Leadership", both accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation at the UAE Ministry of Education for meeting all required standards and criteria.
This accreditation reflects the academy's commitment to the standards of excellence set by the Commission for Academic Accreditation and further enhances its reputation as one of the leading and recognised educational institutions in the country. It is also an acknowledgement of the academy's high-quality mission and educational outcomes, demonstrating their alignment with labour market needs and addressing key elements that directly contribute to educational improvement.

The "Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership", a Level 8 qualification designed in collaboration with the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, Canada, targets current or aspiring educational leaders, such as school principals, assistant principals, and senior leadership roles in school management organisations or government educational systems. The programme's courses focus on several specialised topics, including educational leadership, school operations management, school improvement, and strategic leadership.

The programme aims to equip leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead school and educational system improvements and prepare them for leadership roles, implementing effective strategies for school improvement. The programme, which includes intensive and guided practical training, is distinguished by its reliance on pioneering research in educational leadership, innovative teaching methods, and specialised content, giving students access to unique resources within one academic year.

On the other hand, the "Master of Education in Educational Leadership", a Level 9 qualification also designed in collaboration with the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, Canada, integrates advanced research in educational leadership. It empowers secondary school leaders and educational system administrators to inspire, manage, and evaluate broad-scale educational improvement efforts within their schools or systems.

The programme focuses on advanced leadership skills, strategic planning, and research-based practices in educational leadership. This qualification is recognised as a global standard for the role of a principal, ensuring that participants are well-prepared to meet the demands of international leadership. Applicants can enrol in the programme either as a stand-alone two-year course (four semesters) or as a one-year course (two semesters) following the completion of the Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership.

These new programmes complement the "Master of Education in Educational Leadership" programme, developed in collaboration with the University of Helsinki. This one-year specialised extension of the "Postgraduate Diploma in Education" is specifically designed for teachers aspiring to take on middle leadership roles or enhance their teaching practices. The programme integrates advanced research in education, enabling participants to develop their capacity to provide middle or informal leadership within their schools, implement innovative teaching strategies, and drive educational improvement at both classroom and curriculum levels.

The programme focuses on developing research-based teaching practices and prepares participants to advance their careers and significantly contribute to their educational environments.

These three programmes are the latest to be accredited at the national level, following the academy’s first programme, the "Postgraduate Diploma in Education", also developed in collaboration with the University of Helsinki in Finland. This programme aims to develop teachers' scientific and creative thinking skills in teaching, curriculum design, and all aspects of teaching and learning related to school improvement.

All accredited programmes of the Sharjah Education Academy are offered in both Arabic and English, using a hybrid learning system that combines in-person and online study. The academy's programmes integrate the latest research knowledge with practical support to ensure that teachers and leaders perform at their highest potential.
