Sharjah 24: His Excellency Taryam Matar Mohammed Al Shamsi, President of the UAE Chess Federation (UAECF), confirmed the start of the 2024 meeting at Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, which focused on the "Programme to Spread Chess in Schools."
Al Shamsi told “Sharjah 24” that the initiative, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, aims to integrate chess into the educational environment by training teachers to enhance their chess knowledge and pass it on to students.
He also unveiled the "Hamda Bint Taryam Charity Foundation for School Chess Championship 2024," a competition for top students from public and private schools. The championship, offering cash prizes totaling AED 100,000, aims to promote professional-level chess among students and encourage their excellence.
He further emphasised the UAE Chess Federation’s commitment to collaborating with various partners to expand chess education and nurture students’ strategic thinking and mental development.
