Sharjah24: His Excellency Mr. Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), on Thursday afternoon paid a visit to the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) in Riyadh. He received a warm welcome at the bureau from His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Asmi, Director-General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, accompanied by the directors of affiliated centers.
Among the attendees were distinguished individuals such as His Excellency Dr. Issa Al-Hammadi, Director of the Educational Center for Arabic Language for the Gulf States in Sharjah, and His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al-Sharika, Director of the Arab Centre for Educational Research for the Gulf States, along with several other distinguished staff members.
While visiting, Albudaiwi carefully examined the ABEGS's publications across a range of subjects, such as writing, translating, competitions, awards, and educational research and studies. In addition to that, he delved into the ABEGS's initiatives focused on digital and technological transformation.
During the visit, the Educational Center for Arabic Language for the Gulf States in Sharjah took part in an accompanying exhibition. Dr. Issa Al-Hammadi presented a comprehensive look at the center's programs and activities, highlighting its wide array of initiatives.
Dr. Al-Hammadi emphasised important research and studies, including the reference framework for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, educational needs related to citizenship and sustainable development in Arabic language curricula, challenges in reading and writing acquisition, and strategies for teacher training and qualification. The center also prioritises the development of Arabic language teachers, ensuring they possess the necessary skills for the modern era.
After exchanging greetings, His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Asmi conveyed his sincere thanks and admiration to His Excellency the Secretary-General for his visit. Al Asmi highlighted the significance of this visit in strengthening the relationship between the two sides. They both shed light on the shared goals, stressing on the value of working together in different areas.
Al Asmi underscored the vital role of the Bureau and its programs, providing an overview of its activities. He highlighted the achievements of its specialised departments in different areas, highlighting the Bureau's dedication to supporting cultural and educational content across member states to foster regional development.
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council expressed great satisfaction with the impressive advancements in education within the GCC, in line with the directives of the wise leadership of Gulf officials. He has further expressed appreciation towards the Director-General and Bureau staff for their dedication and achievements in promoting educational matters. In addition, he expressed the GCC Secretariat's commitment to providing ongoing support to the Bureau in order to fulfill its mission.
