The first day of the event was a great success, with many people from different communities and students attending. The lectures focused on explaining the meaning of verses from two chapters of the Qur'an, “Al-Baqarah” and “Al-Kahf”. It was clear that there was a strong interest in understanding these verses among the attendees.
Dr. Reda Ibrahim Abdel Jalil, an academic and assistant professor, talked about the importance of understanding Islamic law. He explained that it addresses the basic principles of practices like purity, prayer, fasting, and giving to those in need. He also mentioned specific verses in Islam that hold great significance, such as verse 255 (Ayat al-Kursi), which is believed to offer protection and blessings to those who read and memorize it. Additionally, he discussed verses related to financial and legal matters, like usury, contracts, and compensation. Regularly reading Surat Al-Baqarah helps strengthen faith and reminds believers of the importance of following God's guidance. It also teaches important values like patience, selflessness, fairness, and equality, which can help build a person's character.
At Al Qasimia University, Mohammed Ibrahim, who is an Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies, presented an interesting discussion on the interpretation of verses from “Surat Al-Kahf”. He explained many stories and lessons from the Surah, highlighting the trials and tests that believers face in their lives. He talked about some important stories, including the People of the Cave, Moses with Al-Khidr, and Dhul-Qarnayn, and emphasized the virtues of patience, piety, faith, and wisdom as depicted in these stories. This Surah is known for inspiring Muslims with its meaningful lessons.
