Sharjah 24: Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, revealed the agenda for the 24th Sharjah International Narrator Forum 2024 during a press conference.
"Tales of Bird" will be the theme of the September 18–22 event. A total of more than 145 storytellers, specialists, and academics hailing from over thirty-two countries spanning every continent will be participating in the event.
Dr Al Musallam informed "Sharjah 24" that bird tales will be the subject of this year's forum. The aim is to highlight the symbolic and folkloric importance of birds across diverse cultures.
The international forum plays an important role in preserving oral heritage by gathering and documenting folk tales that represent the variety and abundance of human cultures and passing them on to future generations. This, in turn, helps to preserve cultural heritage and popular identity.
Dr Al Musallam has selected Mauritania as this year's guest of honor because of its illustrious legacy in the realm of storytellers and tales, as well as its wealth of oral and written traditions. The forum will honour notable Mauritanian figures, such as Yahya Ould Al-Rajel and Professor Dr Moussa Ould Ebnou.
There will be three months of events leading up to and following the forum. We have scheduled the exhibitions to remain open for an entire year.
