Sharjah24: Ibtihal Tariter, a poet, read her work at a "Tailored to the Scent" poetry night. Dr Ahmed Oqeili gave a critical assessment of Tariter's poetic career. Maria Mohieddin presided over the gathering.
"Tailored to the Scent" was the winning poetry collection of Ibtihal Mohammed Mustafa Tariter, who has had a prolific and sustained literary career since its inception. In its fifth season, Tariter received the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Prize.
Her Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah launched the Arab Poetry Houses initiative and appointed the Deputy Director of the House of Poetry in Khartoum. She holds a Master's degree in mechanical engineering and an Honours Bachelor's degree in mechanics.
The 2008 "Magic of Rhymes for Young Poets" festival named her a first-class poet, and she has published three poetry collections. In 2000, she won the Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Prize. In 2008, she received the Excellence Award.
She entertained and moved the crowd with her poetry readings throughout the evening. According to Dr. Ahmed Oqeili, who delivered the remarks, Ibtihal Tariter is a legendary figure in Sudanese and Arab poetry for her groundbreaking work. He spoke highly of her exceptional poetic ability, describing her as an exemplar of profound poetic intensity.
On the same night, Syrian musicians Mahmoud Al-Hannawi and Nadine Taki Alddine performed live.
