Sharjah 24: Within the third week of the "National Identity and Heritage" theme in the Sharjah Sports Activity, Al Madam Cultural and Sports Club organised the Al Sana’ workshop, presented by Dr. Saeed Balaith Al Tunaiji. He emphasised the importance of preserving Emirati behaviours, customs, and traditions that are integral to the national identity.
The workshop coincided with heritage events such as the Arabic coffee competition, traditional games, and the "Our Distinguished Holiday" dates exhibition. Participants learned about the meaning of “sana” and its associated customs and etiquette, which Emiratis have upheld through generations. They also engaged enthusiastically in the heritage competitions.
During the Heritage Activity Week, participants in the Arabic coffee preparation competition were evaluated, presenting live demonstrations and detailed explanations of the coffee’s significance in Emirati gatherings, hospitality, and generosity.
These activities were held alongside a visit from the Supreme Organising Committee for the Sharjah Summer Sports Activity " Our Distinguished Holiday," led by Dr. Yasser Al Dokhi, General Supervisor of the programme. The visit included Sultan Mohammed bin Howaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors; Suhail Salem Suwaidan Al Kaabi, Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee of the Sharjah Summer Sports; and Saeed Hamad Obaid Al Ketbi, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee, along with the technical and administrative team.
The visitors received a detailed briefing on the competition mechanisms and the intellectual and behavioural enrichment provided to participants. They also enjoyed watching traditional games, the dates exhibition, and other heritage elements reflecting the national identity and Emirati culture and history.
